Visa to Indonesia
Travelers to Indonesia must check their visa status based on their nationality and purpose of visit. Below is an overview of visa policies as of 2025 and how you can proceed.
Visa-Free Entry (Exemption)
-
Citizens of ASEAN countries (Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Vietnam) are eligible for visa-free entry into Indonesia for up to 30 days.
-
In addition, Indonesia has extended visa-free access to Hong Kong, Colombia, Suriname, and more recently Brazil and Turkey for stays up to 30 days.
-
This visa-free entry cannot be extended or converted to another visa type.
Visa on Arrival (VOA / e-VOA)
-
For travelers not eligible for visa-free entry, Indonesia issues a Visit Visa (B1 / VOA / e-VOA) at designated airports, seaports, or border crossings.
-
The VOA is generally valid for 30 days for tourism, business, meetings, or transit.
-
You can extend the VOA once (additional 30 days) at a local immigration office in person.
-
Starting June 1, 2025, all visa extensions (VOA, e-VOA, etc.) require an in-person visit for biometric data collection at immigration offices.
Requirements for VOA / e-VOA:
-
Passport valid for at least 6 months from date of arrival
-
Proof of return or onward ticket
-
Pay the VOA fee at arrival or via the e-Visa platform
-
In some cases, upload passport biodata page and passport-style photo if applying via e-Visa system
If you are unsure whether your nationality is eligible for the Visa on Arrival, you can check the official list provided by the Directorate General of Immigration, Republic of Indonesia, through the link below:

-
Processing times may vary by country and embassy—some visas can take days to weeks.

Always check with your local Indonesian embassy or official immigration site before departure — visa rules may change.
